Yorkshire Dales Cheese Festival: 23 to 30 September

Throughout the year there are many festivals and shows celebrating all aspects of Yorkshire Dales life. So… how about a cheese festival? The Yorkshire Dales National Park are organising  The Yorkshire Dales Cheese Festival: 23 to 30 September 2017 showcasing cheese and other local produce.

Throughout the seven days of the festival from Saturday 23 Sept there will be loads of  events happening all over the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale AONB, giving you the opportunity to visit different places and experience some amazing food.

Cheese Festival Programme

Saturday 23rd:

  • Yorkshire Cream Tea at The Garden Rooms, Tenants, Leyburn. No need to book.
  • Yorkshire Dales Cheese & Charcuteries Celebration at Town End FarmShop, Malham. FREE
  • Farm to Folk Presentation, a fantastic opportunity to learn about local sheep farming and try amazing local lamb, at the National School, Hawes.

Sunday 24th:

  • National Park Event: Whey hay! A guided walk with our Dales Volunteers learning about the history of milking in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and meeting local farmers. Includes a visit to the Dales Countryside Museum. Meet at the Wensleydale Creamery, Hawes, at 1pm, return at 4pm. For more information and to book, contact the Dales Countryside Museum.
  • Meet the Maker: an opportunity to meet all the local suppliers in the tearoom at Jervaulx Abbey, Jervaulx, Ripon. FREE
  • Yorkshire Cream Tea at The Garden Rooms, Tenants. Leyburn. No need to book.
  • Yorkshire Dales Cheese & Charcuteries Celebration at Town End FarmShop, Malham. FREE
  • Six Course Yorkshire Dales Tasting Menu using purely local produce at the Three Hares Cafe in Sedbergh, starting at 7pm for 7.30pm. For more information contact the Three Hares.
  • National Park Event: Kate’s Kitchen Preservesat Dales Countryside Museum. Come along and sample these amazing seasonal products and have a taste of everything that is local to the Yorkshire Dales sealed in a jar. No need to book. For more information, contact Dales Countryside Museum.

Monday 25th:

Tuesday 26th:

  • National Park Event: Making & Marketing Cheese in the Victorian Kitchen at the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, 2-4pm. For more information contact the Dales Countryside Museum.

Wednesday 27th:

  • National Park Event: Taste in Time. Discover the history of Yorkshire food at the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes. Drop in, chat and taste local cheese. Try your hand at making real butter and discover delicious Yorkshire Dales oat cakes and the historical stories these everyday ingredients tell. 1.30-4.30pm.   • Cookery Demonstration at The Garden Rooms, Tenants. Leyburn.  For more information contact Tenants.
  • Yorkshire Cream Tea at The Garden Rooms, Tenants. Leyburn. No need to book.
  • Yorkshire Dales Cheese & Charcuteries Celebration at Town End Farm Shop, Malham. FREE

Thursday 28th:

  • National Park Event: Secret Squirrel. An easy 2.5 mile guided walk along the woodland trail at Snaizeholme Red Squirrel Reserve. Catch the Little White Bus from Hawes at 10.40am. For more information contact Dales Countryside Museum.

Friday 29th:

  • National Park Event: Go Nuts for Red Squirrels. Meet in Askrigg and take a guided walk along the red squirrel trail, following the old railway track to Grange and up to Coleby Hall at Brecon Bar to learn about supplying milk to the Wensleydale Creamery. For more information contact Dales Countryside Museum.
