Yorkshire is full of historical sights and one very famous, superbly preserved medieval castle In Skipton, just a 20-minute drive from Layhead, is holding a medieval day on 17th & 18th August 2019.
This great family day out will herald medieval craftsmen demonstrating their trades, knights displaying their prowess, and ladies describing life as it would have been in the reign of Henry II.
The castle itself will be the site of historic set-pieces, recreating the daily workings of a local medieval court, the furnishings of a Lord’s bedchamber, and outside the walls, a working medieval siege weapon!
So, if you love your history, want to inspire the kids or just fancy doing something different, this could be the weekend for you.
